How does Stellar M22 IPL work?
Stellar M22 IPL excels at treating inflammation, including redness from skin irritation, acne and rosacea. The result is a clear, even skin complexion.
Broad spectrum pulsed light is transmitted through a continuously cooled applicator, gently placed over the skin. Cut-off filters in the handpiece change the range of wavelengths, optimising the treatment for different applications and skin types.
The light penetrates the tissue and is absorbed by either the relevant chromophores and damages them (blood chromophores when treating vascular lesions and melanin chromophores when treating pigmented lesions). The body’s natural processes then clear the lesion debris, giving the skin a more even and youthful appearance.
What is a Stellar M22 IPL treatment like?
First, a cold gel is usually applied to the area to be treated. You will be given dark glasses or goggles to protect your eyes from the bright light. The pulses of light are applied to your face, and you will likely feel a mild stinging sensation. Each treatment typically takes about 20-30 minutes. The Stellar M22 IPL treatment is followed by a hydrating mask to calm and soothe the skin.

How long will it take to see results?
The time it takes for results to appear will differ depending on the severity of your skin conditions. Veins and capillaries may look noticeably lighter or may have disappeared immediately after treatment. Pigmentation issues can take around seven days to two weeks to fully dissipate or absorb into the skin. With IPL treatments, the more severe a patient’s skin condition is, the more dramatic the results can be.
How many treatments will I need?
This will depend on the number of concerns you may have and their severity. Multiple treatments might be recommended to achieve the best possible results to ensure you experience all the benefits of revitalised, enhanced skin. As a general guideline we recommend 4-6 treatments of Stellar M22 IPL, scheduled four weeks apart.
Is there any downtime after Stellar M22 IPL treatment?
There is no downtime associated with Stellar M22 IPL treatment. Some patients may experience mild redness immediately after the procedure, but this usually subsides within a few hours or by the next day.
