Discover The Science Behind NAD+
NAD+ Explained
NAD+, or Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide, is a vital coenzyme present in every living cell. It plays a central role in energy production, cellular repair and metabolism, and its levels naturally decline with age. NAD+ IV therapy is an emerging wellness approach that aims to support cellular function and overall wellbeing — delivered in-clinic under medical supervision as part of a personalised plan.
The Miracle Molecule
NAD+ is a critical coenzyme found in every cell in the body. It helps turn nutrients into energy and supports many essential metabolic processes, and it also plays a role in regulating the circadian rhythm that manages our sleep–wake cycle.
Our infusions use NAD+ in its oxidised form. NAD+ is involved in converting glucose into cellular energy and is a key participant in metabolic function, DNA repair and the body's response to oxidative stress. Because NAD+ levels decline with age, supporting them is an area of growing interest in wellness and healthy-ageing science.
How Does NAD+ Work in the body?
NAD+ works as a helper molecule that supports many of the body’s essential cellular processes. Rather than acting on one single area, NAD+ is involved in multiple pathways that help cells function, repair and respond to daily stress.
One of its key roles is supporting the enzymes that regulate cellular repair, mitochondrial activity, metabolic function and stress response. These processes are important for maintaining energy, resilience and overall wellbeing.
As NAD+ levels may decline with age and lifestyle pressure, the body’s ability to support these cellular processes may also be affected. This is why NAD+ has become an important focus in wellness and healthy ageing treatments.
By supporting normal cellular function, NAD+ may help contribute to improved vitality, better recovery support and a more balanced approach to long-term wellness.
What to Expect + Afterwards
What to Expect
A consultation comes first. NAD+ therapy requires a medical consultation and prescription. We'll review your health history, current medications and goals to confirm whether it's appropriate for you.
Your infusion. NAD+ is delivered as a slow IV infusion administered by our medical team. Because NAD+ is infused gradually for comfort and safety, a session can take around 1–2 hours depending on your prescribed dose.
How you might feel. Infusing slowly helps minimise temporary sensations some people notice — such as flushing, mild nausea or a feeling of tightness — which typically ease when the drip is slowed. Our team monitors you throughout.
Afterwards
Most clients return to their day straight away. Your medical team will discuss your plan, any maintenance sessions, and (if appropriate) reassessing your NAD+ levels.
The Science Behind NAD+
Cells produce energy through a process known as cellular respiration. During this process, nutrients from food, such as glucose, are broken down and converted into ATP, the main energy-carrying molecule used by the body’s cells.
NAD+ plays an essential role in this energy-producing process. It exists in two closely related forms: NAD+ and NADH. NAD+ is the oxidised form, meaning it can accept electrons, while NADH is the reduced form, meaning it carries those electrons. Together, NAD+ and NADH form a redox pair, helping transfer electrons during cellular reactions that are central to energy production.
NAD+ is found in almost every living cell, including cells in the heart, brain, muscles, lungs and skin. It works closely with the mitochondria, often known as the energy centres of the cell, to help produce the energy required for normal biochemical functions. The energy generated through this process is stored as ATP and used to support cellular activity, repair and communication.
Through its connection with metabolism, NAD+ provides two important forms of cellular support. First, it assists the body in converting nutrients into usable energy. Second, it acts as a helper molecule for specific proteins involved in regulating important cellular functions, including repair, stress response and metabolic balance.
Because of these roles, NAD+ has become an important area of interest in wellness, vitality and healthy ageing science. Supporting NAD+ activity may help maintain cellular energy, resilience and overall wellbeing as part of a personalised wellness plan.
