At BalaBala Laser Clinic Adelaide, Fotona Acne Revision Laser is a non-invasive treatment for active, inflammatory acne. Using a precisely controlled Nd:YAG laser, it targets the overactive oil (sebaceous) glands that drive breakouts — helping to calm inflammation, reduce excess oil and soothe redness for clearer, calmer-looking skin.

How it works

1. Targets the Oil Glands Behind Breakouts
The Nd:YAG laser is used to target and reduce the activity of overactive sebaceous (oil) glands, helping to reduce the conditions that lead to new breakouts.

2. Helps Calm Active Acne
Through photoselective absorption and gentle, controlled heating, the laser helps reduce the inflammation associated with active acne.

3. Supports the Skin's Healing
The Fotona Nd:YAG laser supports the skin's natural healing by stimulating collagen and helping to calm inflamed, breakout-prone areas.

4. Works on Inflammatory Acne
Fotona Acne Revision is suited to active, inflammatory acne such as papules, pustules and cysts. It's designed to help reduce and manage breakouts as part of a personalised treatment plan, and works best alongside good skincare and, where needed, medical advice. Results vary from person to person.

Fotona Acne Revision Laser FAQs

If you have active acne, Fotona Acne Revision laser can be an effective treatment. As this treatment uses a non-invasive laser, there is no risk of spreading acne bacteria from active acne to other parts of the face. If you are concerned with redness and inflammation from acne, you will benefit from this treatment too.

The number of Fotona Acne Revision laser treatments required will depend on the severity of your acne concerns. As a general guideline, anywhere from three to six treatments may be required to see significant improvements. However, this will vary between individuals. We often start with an initial course of 3 treatments and then assess your progress at this stage.

Fotona Acne Revision laser has virtually no downtime, meaning that you can return to your normal activities after treatment.

For enhanced results, we often pair Fotona Acne Revision laser with hydrating facials. Facials are a great pairing as they help to improve skin barrier function, which in turn can lead to stronger, healthier skin.

One of the ways in which this treatment works is by reducing acne-causing sebum on the skin. Sebum is the perfect environment for acne causing bacteria to thrive. By reducing sebum and sebum production, this can reduce the amount of acne bacteria on your skin.

Acne is a medical condition with several causes, so results vary. Fotona Acne Revision can help reduce active, inflammatory breakouts and is most effective as part of an overall plan — alongside a good skincare routine and, for moderate to severe acne, medical treatment. We'll give you honest, realistic guidance at your consultation.

All cosmetic procedures carry risks, and outcomes vary from person to person. These procedures may involve side effects, complications, recovery periods, and the need for ongoing care. Fotona Acne Revision is generally gentle, with most people experiencing only temporary redness or warmth and little to no downtime. Acne is a medical condition, so results vary and a course of sessions is usually needed, often alongside a good skincare routine and, where appropriate, medical care. No treatment can be guaranteed to achieve a specific result, and individual responses will differ depending on personal factors such as health history, skin type and anatomy.

Our advertising does not use testimonials or before-and-after images, as these may create unrealistic expectations. We also do not target people under 18. A consultation is required before any procedure, during which a registered health practitioner will discuss your goals, the potential risks and benefits, alternative options, recovery requirements, and whether the procedure is suitable for you.

Deciding to undergo a cosmetic procedure should be a carefully considered choice. We encourage you to take time, ask questions, and make an informed decision that is right for you.
